School times
De Groene Vlinder works with a 5 equal days non-stop schedule. Meaning that the children start and finish school at the same time every day.
Each morning the parents are welcome to accompany their child to the classroom during the walk-in period.
This way all children have the opportunity to be in class in a timely manner. It is annoying for children to arrive too late in the classroom, disturbing the lesson that just started. We thank you already for your cooperation!
School times at De Groene Vlinder:
08.20 h Walk-in
08.30 h Start of lessons
14.15 h End of the school day
Gym
All SALTO schools employ a professional gym-teacher to shape physical education. For De Groene Vlinder this will be the responsibility of gym-teacher Inge. Quite often she also coaches a trainee in gym-education, who provides a helping hand during gym lessons.
The children from groep 1/2 practice gym every Wednesday in our own kindergarten and pre-school gym room.
The children of group 3 till 8 have a gym lesson every Monday in the nearby gym facility. The children walk over there, accompanied by the group-teacher.
On top of that each group benefits weekly from an outdoor gym lesson by the group-teacher.
Various topics are addressed during the gym classes. Clinics are offered on a regular base by External Clubs in order to allow the students to get acquainted with various sports / Clubs.
At De Groene Vlinder there also is a monthly after-school sport offer, led by gym-teacher Inge. This takes place on Wednesday afternoon in the schoolyard. The children can enjoy all kinds of games and sports. Participation is free of charge.
There are also external sport activities to which De Groene Vlinder participates, like school skating and a soccer tournament.
Leave of Absence
We believe it is important and pleasant that children are present every schoolday. Of course there might be certain circumstances for which you like to ask for a leave of absence. In this case please fill in a “leave of absence request” form and submit it to the School Management. You will receive our response to your request via this form.
Leave of Absence forms are available at school or can be downloaded here.
Call in Sick
It may occur that your child is sick and cannot attend school. In that case we request you to call the school between 08.00 h and 08.30 h on 040-2410303. It is important to call; otherwise the teacher will wonder why your child is not in the classroom.
Parent Portal
Communication between parents and school is important. We are happy to coordinate practical and substantial matters with you. Also, we like to show you what we all are doing in the classroom and at school. To provide you with this information in the most optimal way, we work with the “Parent Portal” system.
This Parent Portal can be easily installed on your phone or PC via an App . To gain access you will need one-time login details. These will be provided by the teacher at the start of your child at De Groene Vlinder. If necessary it will be our pleasure to assist you with the first login.
Newsletter
With the monthly newsletter we intend to keep you informed about all what’s happening at De Groene Vlinder. Starting School year 19-20 you will receive the newsletter every first Tuesday of the month. The newsletter is only available in digital format.
Parent Contribution
In consultation with the MR (Participation Council: see next chapter), the annual parental contribution is set at € 45.00 per child.
We ask for this contribution to help organize special activities and festivities at school. The Parent Contribution also allows children from groups 1 to 7 to go on a yearly school trip. The children in group 8 conclude their primary school period with a school camp.
The Parental Contribution is intended to organize all extras for which the school has no budget. We therefore appreciate it very much if Parental Contribution is paid for each child. You will receive a request for this at the beginning of the school year.
Should your financial situation not allow you to pay school fees, you can apply for an allowance at www.stichtingleergeld.nl. You can also negotiate a payment arrangement with the management of De Groene Vlinder should you prefer to spread the amount to a longer period of time.
